| Denmark extends northwards from Germany and can be reached by ferry (Harwich - Esbjeg) or plane (Billund).
It exists out of the peninsula Jutland, the two big islands Sjælland and Fyn and hundreds of small islands, of which about 100 are lived on.
The population is about 5,3 million of which about a quarter live in Kopenhagen. The landscape is very flat with a few small hills. The highest 'hill' being 173 meter high is Yding Skovhoej. The Faroe islands and Greenland officialy belong to Denmark too. After the second world war Denmark progressed rapidly into a modern country and an up to date marketing economy. The living standerd is high and the social securities are good. The official coin is the Danish krone, one pound is about 13 Danish kroner. Many Danish people speak English or German. For Denmark a valid passport or touristcard is needed. The borders are open. |

Denmark has a moderate sea climate, the summers are a bit cooler and the winters rarely extreem cold. Because the country is surrounded by the sea, there will allways be some wind, but there is lesser difference in seasons. Denmark has many sun hours in the summer months. In february the average temperature is 3° C. If the wind comes from the east it can get till -30°C. In the summer the same eastwind can bring the temperature up to 35°C, but the average in July will be 15 to 20° C. Normaly Denmark has about 600 mm rain each year. |

Infrastructure :There is about 70.000 km of roads, of which only 10% is motorway. The roads are in a very good condition. There is about 3.000 km railroad. There are ferry's to Sweden, Norway, Germany and Great Brittan.. You can find more general information on the site. Visit Denmark |
